Giving you the care you deserve.

Meet the Team

  • Dr. Hudson's love for Women's Health started in her undergraduate studies when she engaged in a volunteer program at a local hospital, seeing her first birth on Labor & Delivery. She was determined then to attend medical school and the rest is history! During residency training, she had the unique opportunity to train in both a busy downtown hospital and a military medical facility which afforded her experience in both low and high risk obstetrics and gynecologic surgery in a wide variety of patient populations. Once on her own, she realized there was a whole realm of optimal health and wellness not being focused on in the conventional medical model and decided to marry modern and functional medicine. She completed both the Kresser Institute's ADAPT Framework Level One course and all advanced practice modules for certification through the Institute of Functional Medicine.

Dr. Hudson believes it is a joy and honor to serve the women and families in the community using a whole-person and more integrative approach to health. Her favorite clinical interests include fertility, natural/physiologic birth, lactation, family planning, and minimally-invasive gynecologic surgery. She takes pride in an extremely low cesarean rate and loves partnering with local birth workers to foster the beautiful process of childbirth in a hospital setting. She welcomes both low and high risk pregnancies. Dr. Hudson has delivery and surgical privileges solely at St. Luke's Boise.

Dr. Hudson moved to Idaho in 2011 as a newlywed and has called this “honeymoon” home ever since. She describes herself as a former New Yorker, collegiate athlete, Air Force veteran, and a crunchy mom who wants to share the journey of natural health with women and their families. When not in the office, she enjoys hiking the Boise foothills, biking the Greenbelt, concerts at Outlaw Field, visiting local hot springs or wineries, paleo cooking, and sleep!

    • Medical degree (D.O.) from Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine, 2007

    • Residency training in OBGYN at Wright State University/Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, 2007-11

    • Board certified (American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology), 2012

  • Kaela has spent over a decade in healthcare, with experience ranging from geriatrics and hospice, to wound care and chronic care management, through to administration and compliance nursing. In 2017, she found her true calling in women’s health, working as a doula while finishing nursing school, and later becoming a nurse focused exclusively in the world of OB/Gyn.

Today, as a nurse, doula, and placenta encapsulator, Kaela loves supporting families through every stage of their journey. Her passion runs deep—she has even served as a surrogate multiple times, giving her a unique perspective on the joy, challenges, and beauty of bringing new life into the world.

She’s especially committed to reproductive health, informed consent, and empowering patients to make confident, supported choices. Currently, she’s pursuing her master’s degree to become a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner and Certified Nurse Midwife.

Outside of work, Kaela enjoys life with her husband and children—gardening, hiking (and usually getting lost), training her public therapy dogs, or soaking in a lazy Sunday on the couch binge watching trash TV or playing video games with her husband.
